Description

The Heart Center is seeking a full-time, inpatient-focused pediatric cardiologist who will also take on a leadership role in bioinformatics. This position is for a physician with both clinical and academic responsibilities, including a dedicated effort in bioinformatics.

Job Description

This position will consist of both inpatient and outpatient cardiology. As a key member of our inpatient pediatric cardiology unit, you will manage a wide spectrum of cardiac disease states, including medical patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions, as well as pre- and post-operative cardiac surgical patients. You will supervise a medical team of trainees (pediatric residents and pediatric cardiology fellows) and advanced practice providers.

This clinical role requires skills in managing a high-acuity non-intensive care unit that delivers therapies such as vasoactive infusions, mechanical support, and noninvasive respiratory support, including the initiation and titration of heated high-flow nasal cannula.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, admission, ongoing inpatient diagnostic and therapeutic management, and discharging a wide spectrum of patients. You will be expected to know the indications for and ordering of specific testing modalities, interpreting the results, and communicating them with families and referring physicians. You will work within a larger team of hospital-based providers, including cardiac surgeons, cardiac intensivists, cardiac catheterization specialists, and cardiac imaging specialists.

The position also includes inpatient consultative services and an outpatient continuity clinic.

Bioinformatics Responsibilities

The candidate will have a dedicated effort in bioinformatics and will be expected to lead this effort in the Heart Center. This includes developing and implementing bioinformatics strategies to advance research and clinical care within the division. Strong skills in bioinformatics are required for this role.

Qualifications

This is a full-time position. The physician must become competent and compliant with the electronic medical records, policies, and procedures of SHCC and the hospital in which they hold privileges. Interested candidates should be Board Certified (or eligible) in Pediatric Cardiology and will be required to remain Board Certified throughout their employment.
