Examples include: - The surgical director, collectively with the medical director, are responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation of the program in compliance with the criteria set forth in Appendix B of the UNOS Bylaws, and notification to the OPTN Contractor if at any time the program deviates from such criteria. - Oversees the delivery of abdominal transplant surgical services at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and collaborates with the respective medical directors/hospital administrators in developing resources (including personnel and programs) related to these services. - Assures appropriate and continuous coverage of inpatient, outpatient, and call services at all relevant clinical sites. - The Surgical Director is an expert in liver and kidney transplant, defined as direct involvement in liver and kidney transplant patient care within the last 2 years; including: - Management of patients with end stage liver or renal disease - the selection of appropriate recipients for transplant, - donor selection, - histocompatibility and tissue typing, - performing the transplant operation, - immediate postoperative and continuing inpatient care, - the use of immunosuppressive therapy including side effects of the drugs and complications of immunosuppression, - differential diagnosis of liver or kidney dysfunction in the allograft recipient, - histologic interpretation of allograft biopsies, - interpretation of ancillary tests for liver and kidney dysfunction, - long term outpatient care - Partners with System Medical Director Transplant Services and Director Transplant Services to form the System Transplant Leadership Team for overall management of Transplant Services and development of clinical programs of excellence identified in the current Transplant Strategic assessment. - Responsible, with medical directors, for operational efficiencies in the Liver and Kidney Transplant Programs; such activities may include review urgency of new referrals, ensuring surgical participation in post-transplant clinics, co-chair selection committee/multidisciplinary listing meetings for each organ, participation in quality meetings, surgical M and M overall presentations, and overall program performance. - Collaborates with and is a member of the Emory Transplant Center Leadership team to: - Organize and participate in organ procurement call with Emory Transplant Center, - Ensure Emory’s Organ Placement Office is operating to aid Children’s Transplant services and is functioning optimally, - Participate with appropriate Emory adult transplant personnel in Living Donor transplant and ensure all regulatory aspects are followed, and - Participate as Children’s surgical representative in relevant Life Link meetings. - Participates in Children’s Surgical Administration leadership meetings. - Engages in Transplant Quality meetings, and as needed, ad-hoc meetings with System Transplant Quality Director and associated Quality personnel in Transplant Services. - Collaborate with Heart Transplant Program’s surgical leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and participation in process improvement. - Assures participation of transplant surgical personnel in quality improvement, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives. Marcus Autism Center is conducting a search for a doctoral-level clinician with specialization in Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder for medically complex children and children with autism. This position primarily focuses on providing clinical care, as well as clinical case management and supervision of post-doctoral students, interns, and staff providing a range of interventions, in intensive day treatment and outpatient programs. Children seen in the program receive 1:1 intervention delivered by Feeding Techs and Specialists in a clinic setting. Recently, the program has expanded beyond the Atlanta location to establish locations at the Center for Advanced Pediatrics and Children’s at Forsyth.   We are seeking individuals who are interested in joining a dedicated team of professionals seeking to provide the highest quality care to children with ARFID. The clinician will be responsible for maintaining their own case load in the program. The clinician will join a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes professionals from Nutrition, Speech Language Pathology, Medicine, Occupational Therapy and Care Coordination. The position will also involve supervision of trainees at the Master’s, predoctoral, and postdoctoral level. Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Center is undergoing rapid growth and transformation. This psychologist will be a member of the multidisciplinary team treating patients through our Strong4Life Clinic, a program for children, adolescents, and their families with excess adiposity and weight-related health issues. Our clinic offers both medical and surgical treatment options. The psychologist will be responsible for screening all patients for psychological disorders, conducting pre-surgical bariatric assessments, consultation, and weight management related intervention through our multidisciplinary clinic. In addition, there is the opportunity to carry a case load of outpatient psychotherapy patients. The ideal psychologist will have experience providing assessment and intervention for youth requiring treatment and support for weight management. The Center for Behavioral and Mental Health at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in conjunction with the Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine, are expanding mental health services for medically complex children. We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist with experience in treating eating disorders in children and adolescents as well as their families. This position is eligible for a faculty appointment through the Emory University School of Medicine, if desired. - The psychologist will work within the Children’s general outpatient clinic as well as possibly within a medical stabilization inpatient service. Within these environments, evidence-based evaluation and treatment of a diverse population of children is provided for a range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, atypical anorexia, and avoidant /restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). - The psychologist will participate in program development and lead a combination of individual, family, and group therapy treatment. The psychologist will independently perform procedures, collect and analyze clinical data, and make decisions regarding patient care (e.g., initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, and prognosis). - Psychologists work closely with child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, behavioral and mental health therapists (LCSWs and LPCs), and nurse case managers to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan for each patient. - Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well other behavioral mental health trainees. The Division of Pediatric Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) is looking for an Epilepsy Program Director to join our academic/clinical team at an Associate Professor/Professor level.   The successful candidate will be a key leader in our Epilepsy Center, overseeing our epilepsy and neurophysiology programs, with a keen eye for quality and future program growth as well as an interest in epilepsy clinical research. Epileptologists participate in the teaching of neurology residents and epilepsy fellows as well as staffing a 12 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Fast Access Neurology clinics and reading LTVM/EEG studies. Children’s Epilepsy Program has several epilepsy subspecialty clinical programs including ketogenic diet, genetic epilepsy, infantile spasms/epileptic encephalopathy, psychogenic non epileptic events (PNEE) and epilepsy surgery. The Pediatric Neurosciences Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is ranked 1st in the Southeast and one of the top 20 programs in the USA by USN&WR.
